This buzzes LOUD when done so you can here it from anywhere. You can turn buzzer off, but why? Who wants overcooked eggs? This device can save you dozens of eggs. And I had another brand that didn't buzz at all. Still messed me up. I was actually glad when that one broke. Who wants overcooked eggs? This device can save you dozens of eggs, too. How many times I've burnt eggs? With this you can do another task, answer email, talk on the phone, answer the door, walk away from the kitchen, and still safely cook eggs. Lol! Sounds funny but it is really frustrating boiling eggs. Well this is the one I love. If it did more eggs it would be good for a bigger family. 2 years I've had it and it's like new. I like the compact shape it does not take up half a counter, only a couple inches. I'm now getting another one as a gift for a friend. She has a baby and 2 toddlers. She will love it.

I have been wanting an electric egg cooker for a long time and looked at many models and types in the stores and online. I finally purchased the Salton EG1....it looked nice and the price was right. I am very pleased with the product. It is easy to use and cooks the eggs how I want them every time....made a good choice!

Poach one or two eggs, create fluffy individual omelets, or cook up to six soft-, medium-, or hard-boiled eggs with this electric cooker, which actually uses steam to cook the food. A measuring cup (with a built-in egg piercer) is included--fill it with water to the appropriate level for the number of eggs you want to cook and how well done you want them, then pour the water into the nonstick heating vessel. Eggs for poaching and omelets go into D-shaped pans, while whole eggs rest on a rack. Put the clear domed lid on top and turn the dial to one of two cook settings: "silent" (you have to time the cooking) or "buzzer," which alerts you when the food is done. Clean the plastic parts in warm, sudsy water, and wipe the unit clean with a damp cloth. For compact storage, the power cord winds into a track underneath the 7-1/2-by-4-1/2-inch unit. --Dale Steinke
